Φέτος, σε αντίθεση με παλιότερες χρονιές που γινόταν απλά μια ανακοίνωση, οι υποψηφιότητες των Grammy ανακοινώθηκαν σε μία λαμπερή τελετή στο Staples Center του Los Angeles, με παρουσιαστή τον LL Cool J και live performances από την Lorde, τον Robin Thicke, την Katy Perry, τους Macklemore & Ryan Lewis και την Taylor Swift -όλοι τους υποψήφιοι φέτος.
Τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες (9) συγκέντρωσε ο Jay Z , με τονJustin Timberlake, τον Kendrick Lamar και τον Pharrell, υποψήφιους σε 7 κατηγορίες έκαστος, να ακολουθούν και τον Drake να έρχεται τρίτος, με 5 υποψηφιότητες.
Τα μεγαλύτερα εμπορικά hits της χρονιάς, “Get Lucky” (Daft Punk), “Blurred Lines” (Robin Thicke) και “Royals” (Lorde) είναι όλα τους υποψήφια για Grammy στην μόνη ίσως κατηγορία που “βγάζει νόημα” (από εμπορικής άποψης τουλάχιστον), ενώ στην κατηγορία Best Album φιγουράρουν οι Daft Punk, η Taylor Swift, ο Kendrick Lamar, οι Macklemore & Ryan Lewis και η… Sara Bereilles.
Η 26η τελετή απονομής των Grammy θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 26 Ιανουαρίου του 2014.
